Addressing the Area’s Needs
Reliable transportation creates
opportunity; without it, the consequences
amplify quickly. When someone can’t get
to work or when seniors can no longer
drive, their risk of housing and food
insecurity grows. Access to healthcare
declines. Isolation grows. Physical and
mental health suffer.
For years, Poverty Amidst Plenty, CFAAC’s
Community Needs Assessment Report
has identified transportation in the South
County area as a persistent need. While
our 2025 needs assessment report,
showed encouraging progress such as
county-funded expanded transportation
options, gaps remain. Transportation
isn’t the only concern in Southern
Anne Arundel County; there are also
environmental worries with this region
being identified as one of five groundwater
contamination areas.
The South County Fund and the new
endowment fund for South County
nonprofits ensure that CFAAC and its
donors can continue addressing these areas
of need. The grant cycle for the fund
will begin in late 2026.
